Willa Mae Scroggs Nicholson

Willa Mae Scroggs Nicholson, 88, of Marietta died Sunday February 10, 2013. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 1 pm at Elizabeth Baptist Church, Marietta with Rev. Steve Stanfield and Rev. Adrian Coetzer officiating. She will lie in state from 12-1 pm at the church. Interment will be private. Willa was born and raised in Hayesville, NC. She was the daughter of Shuford and Bertie Scroggs. On August 1, 1943, she married the love of her life, Hascal Nicholson. To this union, two children were born, Brenda Joyce and George Anthony (Tony). She and her family moved to Marietta in 1953. Through the years she worked at Kennestone Hospital and for over 30 years she worked for her son-in-law, Dr. Jennings Bristol. She was a wonderful gardner, cook, grandmother, mother, and loving wife. Above all, she loved the Lord and instilled that love in her home. She was a dedicated member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Tony; three sisters, Erma Chastain, Jean Ashe, and Carolyn Cloer and her baby brother, George Jr. She will be dearly missed by those survived: her loving husband of 69 ½ years, Hascal Nicolson; daughter, Brenda and her husband Jennings Bristol; four grandchildren, Randy Bristol and wife Donna, Anita Merryman and husband Chris, Todd Bristol and Tonya Bramwell and husband Spencer; thirteen grandchildren, Jared Bristol, Kayln Hogan, Jacob Bristol, Blaze Krogh, Leah Lowe, Aubrey Krogh, Josie Krogh, Tyson Merryman, Savannah Bramwell, Micah Bramwell, Ezra Bramwell, Zane Bramwell, and Alma Bramwell. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 4-7 pm at Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta, GA 30066.
