Lorene Minter Cantrell, 91, formerly of Acworth, passed away Tuesday, February 19th at Golden Living Center of Kennestone. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22nd at 2:00 pm in the New Zion Baptist Church in Acworth with the Rev. Dan Willis and the Rev. Donald Kemp officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Cantrell was a member of New Zion Baptist Church since 1938, and she was retired from Coats & Clark. Lorene was born May 7, 1921, in Bartow County to Howard Minter and Cynthia Prather Minter. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband of 62 years, Cecil Cantrell and by four brothers, Clarence, Hayden, Sherman, and Oscar. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Bess of Caulfield, Missouri; her granddaughter, Cynthia Cosper of Missouri; her grandson, Michael Davis of Florida; and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Florence Brown of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; her sisters-in-law, Nettie Minter, Juanita Minter, Jennie Cantrell, and Mattie Staples; nephews and nieces; special cousins, Dan and Rhonda Willis; and special neighbors, Donald and Gloria Kemp. Visitation will be held at Collins Funeral Home in Acworth on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Collins Funeral Home, Acworth, is in charge of arrangements.
